On the xbox live tab, goto the account management button and you can purchase them via your xbox that way also. On the xbox, they offer xbox live memberships by the month for $7.99. Note Before you reset the Xbox 360 console's network settings, make sure that you write down the current settings in case you have to restore them later. If you are using a secured wireless network, you will also need your wireless network password. You don't need live to update your Niece console but she does need an Xbox account (Xbox live free) to make DLC purchases I believe. Xbox live Gold is for playing with other people online but theres a lot of benefits like free games for the 360 and Xbox one and you get to keep them even if your subscription ends.
